Born and raised in the Mississippi Delta, Tonya Powell Franklin is a young, but aggressive attorney that has a sincere dedication to her clients.  She received her B.A. in English, magna cum laude, from Tougaloo College in 2002 and her J.D. in 2005 from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law.  She also received her Masters of Tax Law (LL.M.) in 2006 from University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas.  She was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2005 and to the Mississippi Bar in 2006. 

She is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Magnolia Bar Association, Washington County Bar Association, Mississippi Public Defender Association, Southern Public Defender Training Center, National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Texas Bar Association, Washington County Opportunities Board of Directors, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
